There is a certain calmness surrounding Easter Sunday.  Can you feel it?

The days, leading up to Easter and the days following, go by so quickly trotting towards the heat, humidity and long days of summer.  They run faster and faster until, at last, summer is here!  Pools, lakes, boating, swimming, picnics, fishing, the end of the school year.  It is all just over the hill!

I am unsure why the rush but, as usual, I share the anxiety and the questions people raise this time of year.  Guessing about the weather this summer and if it will be as hot as last.  In Georgia the heat can be unbearable.  Last year we had a run of 110 degree days coupled with humidity you could cut with a knife.  So many days I just couldn’t bear the thought of doing anything.  Energy was drained…no where to be found.

Today, the day before Easter,  is a calm that I feel.  A calming of my soul.  All will be well even if it is, once again, 110 degrees this summer!  Even if we run happily towards the summer months hoping we all may take a breath and get into a routine that is fun, relaxing, refreshing and much needed.  A renewal to be sure.

But for today and tomorrow, let us all just enjoy the pre-Summer calm that Easter brings.  Let me reflect on Easter Sunday and the meaning of this day for me.  No matter who or what we believe in, let us say, just for now…

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea billows roll;

Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,

It is well, it is well with my soul.”

Happy Easter!
